Zero Waste Life
I absolutely loved this module because it sums up a lot of what we've learned and puts it into action. I've become so much more aware of the waste and plastic I use just from this course, although it's been on my radar.
I started using a reusable water bottle about 10 years ago, and since have done a few of the things mentioned in the Ted talk like using natural products such as vinegar for cleaning, and making some of my own products. Mainly, it came out of necessity when those available, didn't quite work for me. And although I try not to use bags at stores, it still happens.
Some steps I have begun and want to take more seriously include:
- using biodegradable bags for my cats' waste/and my own trash (if I can find these type of bags)
- bring own reusable bags at stores and never accept plastic bags
- say no to straws and plastic cups
- buy in bulk more and eat less prepackaged foods
Hi Stacey,
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that this module really sums up a lot about what we have learned. All the small things that we do everyday like not use plastic water bottles or one-time use coffee cups really add up. It's great that you have already taken some steps to reduce your environmental foot print
Hi Stacey,
ReplyDeleteI agree with you - this module definitely summed up what we have been reading and learning in this class. This class really opened my eyes on lot of environmental hazards. Everywhere I look, I see unnecessary things I have in my life. This class definitely taught me to be conscious about products I use in my life. It also made me conscious about food I eat. This week's video was bit overreaching for me, but I am going to make sure I do my part and reduce my waste.
Stacey,
ReplyDeleteI loved this module too! It really does make you think about yourself and if you're carrying your own weight. California is definitely more environmentally conscious. I moved here from Florida about 3 years ago, and they are still using plastic bags at grocery stores. Nobody knows the concept of bringing their own bags or reusing bags for groceries. The only people I see there using reusable water bottles are women.
